He's in Refrigerators[]
Suzie, alongside her mother-in-law Noriko Sakamoto, explains to a crisis manager the distinguishing clothing that her husband and son wore on the airplane they may have died. Much to Noriko's chagrin, Suzie is curt with the crisis manager when explaining details about her husband and son's clothing or belongings. They'd later attend a rui-katsu where participants cope with the loss of their loved ones by contacting them via their devices. Despite not wanting to do it at first, Suzie does and learns that her husband's phone is still active, although the other attendee's phone's loved ones are not. After this event, Suzie and Noriko are handed a bag of rice crackers by a yakuza.
Walking home, Suzie is met by a man named Yuki Tanaka, who claims to be a former co-worker of Masa. He delivers to her Sunny, a robot created by Masa intended just for her. Although she doesn't want Sunny, Suzie succumbs to the pressure, and after Yuki leaves, she turns Sunny off. However, Sunny would awaken and try to bond with Suzie, who wanted nothing to do with it.
Eventually, Suzie visited ImaTech, where a Christmas party was being held. There, she asked for Yuki Tanaka but was led to a man with the same name as him. She learned from him that her husband was a strict and intimidating guy. Many of those who worked with him said they'd like to see him die. The remark upset Suzie, whose body language caused the employee to apologize for his remarks, but Suzie left him. From there, Suzie gains access to a stairway that leads to a basement floor where a room called "Sakomoto Incubator" is located. Inside are various rooms with different themes. The final room had a playroom with two dogs inside, and in it, Suzie found a trail and splatter of blood, which shocked her, and she abruptly left.
After visiting ImaTech, Suzie visited the cocktail bar and met the new bartender, Mixxy. They enjoyed a conversation, and Suzie learned from Mixxy that hacking into your robots is possible. However, their conversation takes a bad turn when Mixxy talks about how the death of the politician Takao Ito, who was killed by a robot, was no accident. Suzie would then abruptly leave the bar, and as she walked home, an unknown man watched her from various cameras.
Back at her home, Suzie finds Sunny beside a puddle of blood and a broom and dustpan. Panic-stricken, Suzie abandons Sunny on a bridge, and later that night, in her bed, she browses the internet about her husband and the dead politician. The following morning, Sunny appears by her bedside with a plate of cookies. Astonished by this predicament, Suzie had intended to bludgeon Sunny with a bat, but Sunny mimicked the hand gesture that Masa did the last day she saw him.
Don’t Blame the Machine[]
Suzie sits on her porch with a cigarette and a glass of whiskey and reminisces about meeting Masa for the first time at a ramen restaurant. There, he helps use a machine to order a bowl of ramen, but he accidentally orders an extra spicy bowl. In the present, Suzie spots a robot observing her and pays no mind to it. In her home, Suzie catches Sunny rummaging through her closet. Suzie stops it, and their conversation shifts to Masa.
Eventually, Suzie visits a robot shop where the owner runs a diagnostic on Sunny, who notes all is fine with Sunny, but has locked files that can't be accessed. Suzie asks if it's possible to hack into Sunny to access the files, but the owner denies it and leaves for dinner. Suzie and Sunny leave the place and briefly discuss what they learned; they're stopped by the owner's granddaughter, who gifts them the video that Sunny was entranced by. She stops short about telling them about the guide known as the Dark Manual, an associated image that was one of her husband's drawings.
They'd later visit Noriko's place, where she was entertaining guests. Suzie would learn from Noriko that the airport was delivering belongings to loved ones involved in the plane crash. However, Suzie refutes that notion, and after hearing voices coming from inside Noriko's home, she's allowed inside. Suzie then saw Noriko's guests, and when she asked about where the picture that Masa made when he was a hikikomori, Noriko claimed she had disposed of it.
Seeing no point in staying there any longer, Suzie leaves and rides her bike home with Sunny in the back. As they ride home, Suzie recalls the drink that Masa bought for her, and the two would discuss why Suzie decided to live in Japan. The conversation turns when Masa reveals that he has been a hikikomori for three years until someone helps him rehabilitate himself.
In the present, Suzie searches Masa's room for clues about the dark manual but finds nothing. To help Suzie, Sunny asks for information about Masa to better understand her, but she is incapable of figuring anything out. So, Sunny suggests they investigate Masa's workplace. When they go to ImaTech the next day, Sunny shuts down due to a Division Five protocol. Hence, Suzie decides to gain entry into Masa's workplace herself but cannot. Heading deeper into the building, Suzie finds Yuki Tanaka, who she met at the party, where she convinces him to allow her into Division Five.
There, Suzie discovers that the place was cleaned up. She is chased by an employee, whom she manages to evade, thanks to Sunny assisting her. At home, Suzie recalls her experience at ImaTech and believes she should speak to Mixxy to learn more about the guide she talked about. Sunny and Suzie then watched the psychedelic video that had Sunny in a trance-like phase. Once the doorbell rings, Sunny checks it and informs Suzie that a rep from the airport has delivered Suzie Masa's shoes. The revelation made Suzie depressed and despondent. A flashback shows the night she had sex with Masa, and the two had a heart-to-heart together.
Suzie is shown in her bed and invites Sunny to join her. When Sunny wakes up from a nightmare, Suzie asks if Sunny is alright, and it claims it is.
Mmmm, Hinoki[]
When Noriko contacts Suzie's household, she talks to Sunny, hoping to speak to Suzie, but Sunny relays that she's still mourning Masa's death and clings to hope that Zen is still alive. Later, Noriko visits Suzie's household, and although she cannot see Suzie, she delivers her mother's pearl necklace and the image by Masa that she had wanted. Later, Sunny barges into Zen's room, where Suzie lies, and informs her about Noriko's visit and what she has delivered for her. Suzie instantly uploads the image onto the internet and finds graphic images involving robots there. Sunny tries to assure Suzie it'd never do that, but Suzie doesn't appreciate the sentiment.
Wanting more information about the image, Suzie and Sunny visit Mixxy at her work while passing by a sweet potato salesperson on their way there. At Mixxy's work, Suzie talks to Mixxy, hoping to learn more about the Dark Manual; however, she can't because she's on the clock, but she promises to talk about it at her house that night.
That night, Mixxy and Suzie talk about the Dark Manual; however, Mixxy's knowledge about it is limited, but he suggests someone who does, a guy called Takumi. They'd later visit Takumi and, from him, are directed to a man named Tendo, who runs an illegal robot fighting arena. Suzie would agree to participate in it, but she was horrified by what she witnessed upon seeing it. The robot fighting arena makes her recall when she oversaw a sumo match between Masa and Zen, and when she sees Sunny forced to participate in it, she tries to escape with him. However, they're stopped by a woman called Hime, and when Hime tries to stop Suzie and Sunny from leaving, Sunny pushes Hime away, knocking off her prosthetic pinky finger. Amid this, Suzie and Sunny leave, and as they do, Suzie accidentally steps on Hime's prosthetic pinky finger.
Outside, Suzie and Sunny regroup with Mixxy, where Suzie vomits after what she had experienced down in the robot arena.
The next day, Suzie attends Masa's funeral, which Hime had also attended.
Sticky[]
Suzie spots Hime at Masa's funeral, and when she tries to approach her, she's stopped by a man named Kato, who was Masa's friend when they were at university. He mentions that Masa's father helped him get out of his hikikomori states, which perplexes Suzie as the cause of it was when his father died.
Pulled aside by Noriko, she rebukes Suzie's attitude and tells her a story about Masa's cousin Yumeko, whose sticky nature caused her to lose her husband. Not wanting to stay longer, Suzie gets ready to leave and runs into Mixxy; the two hook up alongside Sunny and leave to get some food for Mixxy. During their time together, they discuss Masa's ambiguous past, his father, Shigeru, and how to access a more thorough background search about his father's background.
Mixxy's suggestion that she should take a bath gives Suzie the idea to visit a bathhouse. There, Suzie and Mixxy eavesdrop on some Yakuza and overhears a conversation between a group of Yakuza. They then overhear a Yakuza named Tetsu, kill another Yakuza named Botan.
Afterward, Mixxy and Suzie learn from Sunny that Shigeru isn't Masa's father but a man named Hiromasa Matsumoto. Apparently, Hiromasa is not only alive but was labeled as a beneficiary by Masa three days before his death.
When they return to Suzie's home, they find it was ransacked by the Yakuza, and in light of this, Suzie suggests they leave.
Joey Sakamoto[]
A dream sequence featuring Suzie watching Zen play the main role in the story adaptation of Momotaro. She'd later get into an argument with Masa for not attending the play and arriving drunk.
Mixxy awoke Suzie as they rode a train to her family's farm. At the station, she learned that the bus that goes by her family's farm was out of service, and a man with a black eye alarmed them. Left with no other choice, Suzie decides they should walk to the farm, and as they do, she has flashbacks about Masa and briefly Hime.
When Suzie has to pee, a conversation starts about her underwear and how she took it from an economist she admired. That night, Suzie has a heart-to-heart with Mixxy over her deceased father. When Sunny finds a baby bird and wants to adopt it, Suzie tells Sunny it cannot and presses onward.
Eventually, they reach an old abandoned temple where they take shelter, and the next day, Suzie scares off a bear by singing a loud song with Mixxy.
Once the group reaches Mixxy's family farm, Suzie learns that the bird named Joey, whom Sunny was taking care of, has passed away, and a funeral is later held for it. During the funeral, Sunny recalls some memories of Masa and relays them to Suzie that night. Suzie has a dream featuring Masa, and when she wakes up the next morning, Suzie learns that Sunny is gone and that Hime likely took it.
Kyoto Manjū, So Delicious[]
Suzie tries to file a missing person report at the local police station but cannot because the police don't investigate missing Homebots. Outside, Suzie learns from Mixxy, who had to take a phone call, that she will be part of a photoshoot at her work. Just then, a Manjū robot gifts Suzie a manjū with a piece of Sunny inside it. The robot then threatens Suzie, saying that she should go to a pre-determined location within the time limit if she wants to see Sunny again.
Without hesitation, Suzie does, is kidnapped by someone in a sweet potato truck, and taken to a room where she's tied to a chair. There, Suzie finally meets with Hime face to face. Hime, who greets Suzie, wants her to open Masa's laptop; however, Suzie refuses to cooperate, claiming they're responsible for Masa's death. During their conversation, Hime is pulled away by Tetsu, who mentions that her father has passed away. Despite not having her translation device in her ear, Suzie understood that Hime's father passed away and gave her condolences. From there on out, Suzie is coerced to gain access to Masa's laptop. After two failed attempts to enter the correct password, Suzie bypassed it through the override command by giving Masa's laptop the middle finger.
Later, Suzie is dropped off at her home, where she regroups with Mixxy and recounts her experience with the Yakuza. She then receives a call from Noriko, who is in a detention center for shoplifting, and despite her circumstances, Noriko wants a Shogi board. It was to participate in a secret tournament there, and before leaving, Suzie notes how Noriko was safer there than outside, which perplexed Noriko.
Back home, Suzie breaks open a bottle of wine and is astonished to see Sunny with Mixxy. She isn't active despite trying to reach Sunny, whose facial light is on. Sunny then short-circuits and falls over.
There’s Been a Shift[]
Suzie wakes up in her bed with Mixxy beside her. Upon checking Sunny, she soft reboots and is in sleep mode. Although Suzie wants to awaken her, Mixxy suggests that she hold off until she gets back from work. Before Mixxy leaves, Suzie lends her a set of clothing for her. Sometime after Mixxy leaves, Suzie, against Mixxy's opinion, awakens Sunny, who acts crudely toward her and decides to watch TV instead of talking with her.
Even though Suzie tries to talk to Sunny, she's dismissive of any interaction with her, so Suzie decides to go to the kitchen, where she briefly talks to Noriko on her device. Once Noriko decides to talk to Sunny, Suzie tries to contact Dee and leaves a voicemail message for her. Moments later, Mixxy returns and reveals that she was fired from her job, escalating into an argument. Sunny intervenes and attacks Mixxy, causing Suzie to put Sunny into sleep mode.
Afterward, the two head to the electronics store, where the owner's daughter tests Sunny. It's revealed that Sunny has a tracking program installed in her. The program tracked three people; the first two were Suzie and Noriko, and the third was unknown.
At home, Suzie learns the tracking device was in her wedding ring. She leaves it in Sunny as Mixxy and leaves to find the mystery third person being tracked. The person was Yuki, who was doing his laundry on the basement floor of an apartment building. Upon spotting Suzie and Mixxy, he tells her they must talk.
Trash or Not-Trash[]
As Suzie talks things over with Yuki after learning about Masa's true history from Yuki, Mixxy discovers that there is a fourth GPS tracker.
They all follow the tracker to its location, and Suzie separates from the group, where she finds Zen on the basement floor of a temple. As Suzie runs toward Zen, the Yakuza Tetsu holds her hostage and orders Sunny, who appeared beside Sunny, to kill her, but instead, Sunny kills Tetsu, leaving Suzie astounded by what Sunny did.
Who's in the Box?[]
Sunny mentions Suzie several times throughout the episode as she delves into her memories. In the end, a projection from Sunny's chest shows footage of Suzie and Sunny's interactions together.
The Dark Manual[]
Suzie is in shock after Sunny kills Tetsu, but is snapped out of her trance when she spots Zen. They're soon joined by Hime and two of her cohorts, who take Suzie and Zen to the basement, but before that, Hime gives her condolences to Suzie for the loss of her husband.
Suzie and Zen were taken somewhere else in the basement, where Mixxy and Hiro were. There, they talk about the malignant code that Sunny has in her system that allows her to hurt or kill people and suspects the Yakuza wants it. Soon, it was revealed that Zen had Suzie's device after Noriko contacted Suzie. At first, Noriko acted curtly toward Suzie, but after realizing the situation Suzie, along with everyone else there, was in. Managed to get the Yakuza guarding them to release them after holding his mother hostage.
Outside, Suzie, Zen, and Hiro put on masks to disguise themselves and with oni masks, and once they locate where Sunny was at. Suzie takes Zen to the stage, where she says the code word that awakens Sunny and makes her attack her captors.
Led off the stage by the security officers there, Suzie regroups with Mixxy and Hiro. They soon find Sunny, who doesn't want to associate with Suzie for fear of hurting her. Hence, Hiro suggests that Sunny be taken to Tokyo, where his friend there can abstract the malignant code from Sunny.
Suzie agrees to that, says her goodbyes to Sunny, and is eventually led to Hiro's cabin alongside Zen.
