Synopsis[]
Suzie officially meets Himé and her friends. Noriko learns to master the game of shogi.
Summary[]
Noriko shops at a convenience store, browsing the magazines for sale. Looking at the store clerk behind the counter, she shoplifts a manga magazine and exits the store to see if the clerk caught her in the act, but the clerk doesn't. So, Noriko talks to the clerk and suggests that he pay attention to her. She then walks around the shop, filling her basket with various things around the shop, and after she does, Noriko exits the store and eats one of the shop-lifted items from her basket.
Elsewhere, Suzie and Mixxy file a report at the police station about the missing Sunny. As Suzie is asked by the police officer who wore a neck brace, Mixxy abruptly leaves her, and Suzie is forced to describe Sunny alone without her. However, when Suzie reveals to the officer that Sunny is a homebot and despite her trying to explain how the Yakuza were connected to Sunny's kidnapping, the officer brushes her off.
Leaving the police station upset since it did not help her find Sunny, Suzie regroups with Mixxy, who has to return to her job for a photoshoot. As Suzie talks to Mixxy, a manjū gifting robot bothers Suzie and Mixxy, who tries to give Suzie a manjū bun. Annoyed by the robot's pestering, Suzie takes the bun and finds a piece of Sunny inside it when she takes a bite out of it. The robot then instructs Suzie to head to a vegetable stand within 15 minutes if she wants to see Sunny again.
Hastily, Suzie and Mixxy walk off. While Suzie is focused on finding Sunny, Mixxy thinks it's far too dangerous to continue, but it doesn't matter to Suzie.
Parting ways with Mixxy, Suzie waits at the designated location where she's kidnapped and taken to an unknown location. There, she's tied up to a chair by two men, and after her blindfold is taken off, an imatech laptop scans her face and doesn't accept it. Moments later, Hime arrives and greets Suzie, who topples over trying to attack her. While sipping a cup of tea, Hime asks Suzie who named Sunny, but Suzie refuses to answer, and Hime assumes it was Masa who named her. After being sat up straight again by one of her captors, Suzie realizes that they want her to unlock Masa's laptop, and she mentions the four-circle-five. Hime mentions that it symbolizes the date April 5th, which is her grandmother's birthday. However, Suzie corrects her that it symbolizes Flight 405 and blames the crash on her. On the other hand, Hime denies it and claims that Suzie's thoughts that the insurance agency or the detective she spoke with were wrong.
Changing the subject, Suzie asks why Hime was at Masa's funeral. She answered that she admired Masa's work and called him a visionary. When Hime asks if Suzie hates Masa for his profession, Suzie curtly answers that she doesn't know what he does for a living, as Hime killed him. Hime then quizzically asks Suzie how she wasn't privy to Masa's profession despite being married to him for nearly a decade. As Hime says this, Suzie has a flashback about Zen and Masa on the day she last saw them, and Hime continues by listing off possible reasons why Suzie was in Japan and fell in love with Masa. In the end, Suzie tells Hime, "fuck you," hence, Hime says that Suzie has two more tries to open Masa's laptop.
At that moment, Tetsu calls Hime over, and the food vendor man takes out Suzie's translation device and briefly watches over her. Once that is settled, Suzie has her translation device put back in, and Hime demands that Suzie tell him the password to his computer. However, Suzie notes that she understood that she likely lost her father, claiming she recognized a phrase that was used in her conversation with Tetsu. Suzie mentions what she overheard in the bathhouse, causing Hime to smack her, and although Suzie relates to Hime for her loss, she refuses to help Hime break into Masa's laptop.
Hime then demands that Mixxy be brought there, and two of her men visit Mixxy's bar, where Mixxy is assisting with the photo shoot. Coerced into trying to open the laptop, she fails to open it twice, but when given the option to override it, Suzie uses her middle finger to try and open it, and it works.
Afterward, Suzie is dropped off by her house, where she regroups with Mixxy. Inside her house, Suzie explains to Mixxy her experience with the Yakuza. Things become a bit contentious between them when Suzie asks Mixxy if the Yakuza intends to return Sunny to her. Their conversation is interrupted by a phone call from the police, and she learns that she has to bail Noriko out of jail.
Leaving Mixxy to watch over her home while she's gone, Suzie visits the detention center and meets with Noriko. Immediately, Noriko asks if Suzie has brought the Shogi board she requested. On the other hand, Suzie is more concerned about Noriko than the Shogi board. Noriko then informs Suzie about the secret Shogi tournament that's held there, and she needs it to practice her skills. Their conversation segues to an old friend of Noriko named Yoko-san, who has terminal lung cancer. Noriko notes that Yoko's son visits her every day. Although Suzie wanted to help Noriko, she only wanted a Shogi board. So, Suzie left Noriko, but details that she'll be safer there perplexed Noriko.
Meanwhile, Mixxy hears a loud banging noise coming from the front door at Suzie's home. Checking it, Mixxy finds a note and tries to contact Suzie but cannot reach her. Therefore, Mixxy heads to the temple, where the note says to go, and finds Sunny, whose facial light is on, but she isn't active.
Back at Suzie's house, Suzie returns home and, finding no one there, breaks open a bottle of wine and looks at the height measurements of Zen over the ages.
Just then, Mixxy calls out to Suzie and finds Mixxy and Sunny. Despite Suzie trying to talk to Sunny, she falls over while short-circuiting.
